Risultati preliminari
Gli esperimenti sono stati condotti su modelli animali e cellulari. I risultati preliminari indicano che l’acido lipoico previene l’infiammazione costitutiva in topi Scnn1b-Tg e F508del-CFTR. Dati preliminari in vitro dimostrano che l’acido lipoico inibisce alcune componenti del processo infiammatorio in cellule epiteliali bronchiali FC (IB3-1). Questi dati lo indicano come possibile strumento terapeutico nel campo dell’infiammazione polmonare FC.
Preliminary results
In vitro and in vivo models of CF were used to test whether treatment of cells as well as CF mice with LA prevented CF-related hyper-inflammation. It was shown that lipoic acid (LA) prevents inflammation in two CF animal models, the Scnn1b-Tg and F508del-CFTR mice. In addition, LA prevents the activation of the NF-kB pro-inflammatory pathway in human bronchial epithelial CF cells (IB3-1). According to these results LA may contribute in preventing lung inflammation in CF.
