Nel Comitato scientifico (CS) di FFC Ricerca fa il suo ingresso il dott. Michael Pusch, dirigente di ricerca dell’Istituto di Biofisica CNR di Genova ed esperto nel campo dei meccanismi molecolari che regolano il trasporto di ioni attraverso le proteine canale, in particolare quelle per il cloruro, e dei meccanismi fisiologici della regolazione del trasporto transepiteliale.
La sua figura subentra a quella del dott. Oscar Moran, ricercatore dell’Istituto di Biofisica CNR di Genova, entrato a far parte del CS nel 2020 e ora in pensione. Grazie alla sua professionalità e dedizione, Moran ha contribuito in maniera significativa alla promozione dell’eccellenza scientifica in campo FC e al perseguimento della mission di FFC Ricerca Una cura per tutti.
Fin dal 2003 Moran ha portato avanti, anche con il sostegno di Fondazione, progetti di studio nel campo della biofisica (branca della biologia che studia i sistemi viventi con i metodi della fisica) con l’obiettivo di conoscere meglio la struttura molecolare della proteina CFTR e capire come il suo funzionamento possa essere modificato da farmaci.
A lui un sentito ringraziamento da parte del Comitato scientifico e di FFC Ricerca tutta per l’impegno e la competenza con cui ha rivestito il suo ruolo in questi anni.
In tale contesto di cambiamento, diamo il benvenuto a Michael Pusch, fisico di formazione (Università di Gottinga, Germania) con un dottorato di ricerca in biofisica.
Ha lavorato per 6 anni al Centro di Neurobiologia Molecolare di Amburgo e oggi dirige un gruppo di ricerca presso l’Istituto di Biofisica del CNR a Genova, focalizzato sullo studio di malattie genetiche associate ai canali ionici.
Grazie alla sua esperienza arricchirà ulteriormente le professionalità del Comitato scientifico nell’impegno di selezionare e promuovere una ricerca scientifica di alta qualità per trovare la miglior cura per tutte le persone con fibrosi cistica.

FFC Ricerca’s Scientific Committee (SC) welcomed Dr. Michael Pusch, Research Director at the CNR Biophysics Institute in Genoa and an expert in the field of molecular mechanisms regulating ion transport through channel proteins, in particular those for chloride, and of physiological mechanisms regulating transepithelial transport.
He is taking over from Dr. Oscar Moran, researcher at the CNR Biophysics Institute in Genoa, who joined the SC in 2020 and who has now retired. Thanks to his professionalism and commitment, Moran has made a major contribution in promoting scientific excellence in the CF field and pursuing FFC Ricerca’s mission: A cure for all.
Ever since 2003 Moran has carried out, also with the Foundation’s support, research projects in the field of biophysics (a branch of biology that studies biological phenomena with the methods of physics) with the goal of gaining better knowledge of the molecular structure of the CFTR protein and understanding how its functioning can be modified by medicines.
A heartfelt thanks to him on behalf of the Scientific Committee and FFC Ricerca for the commitment and competence he has shown in his role throughout these years.
Against this backdrop of change, we would also like to welcome Michael Pusch, a trained physicist (University of Göttingen, Germany) with a PhD in biophysics. He worked for 6 years at the Molecular Neurobiology Centre of Hamburg and today he is the head of a research group at the CNR Biophysics Institute in Genoa, whose research focuses on genetic diseases associated with ion channels.
With his experience, he will further enhance the professionalism of the Scientific Committee in its commitment to selecting and promoting high-quality research to find the best cure for all people with CF.
